Kidada for Disney Couture

Photobucket

I bet you have already seen that gorgeous picture of Nicole Richie before.
I thought she was wearing cute jewelry, but never found out who made it. Yesterday I did. By accident.
The picture actually shows Nicole presenting the 2007 Collection of Disney Couture. The designer of this fabulous looking jewelry is Kidada Jones, who got inspired by all the Disney stuff for litte kids.
But her bracelets, rings and necklaces aren't childish at all. Kidada created amazing pieces with little dangles showing different belles like Cinderella, Tinkerbell or Snowwhite.
I especially love the Wrap Bracelets (Nicole wears one in purple), which you actually can unwrap and use as a necklace. I picked out a few items to show you how great they look and where to buy them.

Nicole Richie's New Style

Since socialite Nicole Richie gave birth to her daughter Harlow, she kind of develops a new style which i really love. She starts to wear a lot of oversized and baggy shirts with skinny jeans, leggins or tube skirts and never leaves her Balenciaga bag at home. I also noticed she wears high heels more often now. Her new favorite accessorie is a golden diamond necklace, showing the letter H which definately stands for Harlow. What do you think of Nicole's outfits below?

Head bands

Head bands are a must-have this summer! You get them in every size and color or you can even wrap your scarves or nacklaces around your head. You can do anything with them. Just try to wear them across your forehead to go for the hippie look or regularly pulled back over your bangs.
I didn't want to post standart photos of Nicole Richie or MKA Olsen wearing them, because almost everybody has seen them pulling off head bands. For this reason i searched around the internet for real girls having them on and found some pretty good pictures on thecobrasnake.com. Get inspired!

Photobucket

Let's start off with the plain wide head band. This girl wears hers across the forehead in combination with black nailpolish and in contrast to her light blonde hair.
Photobucket

Photobucket

This one is actually my favorite. The head band looks very self-made. Just buy some fabric or elastic strings and braid them together. It's so plain but so beautiful.
Photobucket

Photobucket

This gril is definately going for the flowery hippie look, which matches blond hair perfectly. You can buy these head bands prefabricated in stores or just take a simple head band and a hair clip with a fake flower on it and clasp it together. These things are avaliable at H&M for a few bucks and actually look like haute couture!
Photobucket

Photobucket

This is for the ones of you who want to make it pretty easy. Just ask your daddy for a cord, I'm sure he has one in his hobby room. Tie it together on the ends and you are ready to go!
Photobucket

Photobucket

Here's another self-made hairband. This girls works it with braided hair streaks and prefers a light shine of metallic in on her head.
Photobucket

Photobucket

I really love this head band, too. It is made out of feathers and really expensive if you buy it in store. BUT you can also make it your self. Look out for a bunch of really long feathers, like peacock feathers for example. Maybe you remember that you already braided flowers into a head band when you were younger, so that's exactly how it works with the feathers. First you have to start off with three feathers and start to braid them. Add more and more feathers until you got a long strap. Attach the ends with some yarn.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Here you can see a silver one that really pops out and works good with red lipstick. You can buy the same head band at H&M for about 5 $ / 3 €. They are avaliable in every color, I personally have the purple one.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Wow I love this idea. These head bands are made of raccoon tails. You can get them at a fabric store or on ebay as a key chain. Just sew a few together.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Here's another standart head band. Also from H&M for around 5$ / 3€.
It's perfect to get started and try out if a head band looks good on you.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Now this is the classy look which also Nicole Richie prefers. This girl uses a Chanel scarf as a head band. Be carfeful and don't wear outstanding clothes with it, it might look too overdressed. Just pick a plain shirt and some cute jeans.

Model Of the Day

Photobucket

I decided to make a Model Of the Day post. I won't make one everyday, but when someone caughts my eye or I find something really inspiring, so that it actually makes my day.

For the first model post i chose Chanel Iman Robinson, better known as Chanel Iman.
She's born in Atlanta, Georgia on the 30th of November 1989, therefore she turns 19 this year. Chanel is Korean and African-American, which gives her this incomparable look.
2006 Chanel won the third-place runner-up in Ford Supermodel of the Year contest, which is the beginning of her modeling career.
Today she is running for famous designers like Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, Christina Dior, Lacoste, DKNY, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Valentino and lots more. There is nearly no designer who hasn't booked her so far.

I love her personal style and the way she combines clothes and accessories. She often goes for the baggy on top and tight on bottom look, what I go for myself, too.
She wears a lot of black and white or one colored dresses for parties and events.

At Gap's Design Edition Launch on April 14, 2008.
I love how she combines a white men's chemise with an elegant black blazer and plain plack leggins. That outfit is so simple, but so in style.

This is one of my favorite dresses on her. The white color of the dress looks amazing on her tan skin color. I also adore the way she wears her hair curled.

Even after a long fashion show she doesn't look exhausting. She can so pull off those jeans and the black blazer over a black shirt with a huge silky bow.

Chanel looks fabulous in this baggy aquamarine dress. She wears a ponytail so the color of the dress and the oversized necklace pops out.

I especially like how Chanel works casual stuff like the plain leggins and flip flops with a classy jacket. This ones a good example for her exclusive black and white style.

New York City

I went to NYC with my mom a month ago. It actually is a birthday present, I'm turning 18 on June 11. We couldn't wait to go to the US thats why we decided to go before my birthday even comes up. We had an awesome week, visited a lot of museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum and we've been to Central Park, on top of the Empire State Building and enjoyed a sightseeing cruise. It hasn't been the first New York trip for me, therefore I was able to show my mom a few sights and guide her trough the city. Unfortunately we had bad weather most of the time, how you already noticed when looking at the pictures, but it was a lot of fun though.
The funniest experience I made was I learned how to eat korean food. This must sound weird, but if you visit korean reastaurants in Germany, they only serve regual food like rice and duck meat. So my mom and I went to have korean BBQ for dinner one night and the waitresses brought the meat and rice we ordered, but also huge lettuce leafs and sides like tiny dried fish, soy beans, some sauces, radish and so on. We had no idea how to eat that stuff, but fortunately a nice korean girl offered to show us: She taught us how to grill the raw meat and how to make a wrap out of the sides and the lettuce. I have never seen that before. She put some sides, sauces and meat on top of a lettuce leaf and rolled the whole thing into a wrap. It tasted amazing and it actually was a lot of fun.
I am looking forward to going to NYC again. I love the city, it's people and places to eat :)

Floral Prints and Bright Colors!

While black will go big in the collections for next fall and winter (like you already learned in my last post), we still want to know what we should go for this summer.
A lot of designers present fashion in bright mixed colors and floral prints.
I picked out a few examples for you to get inspired.

Photobucket

Prada uses flowing chiffon for their unicolor dresses with huge floral prints. They look best combined with big checkered simple colored tights or leggins. I advice you to wear your hair pulled back to draw all the attention to the dress.

Photobucket

Etro combines colorful floral prints with leather accesoires, short skirts and plateau high heels. You also should work the natural look like messed up hair and light make up with it.

Photobucket

Anna Sui’s collection for this spring/summer is very punky. The models show pastel colored short dresses combined with a bright colored belt and bright socks under heels as an eye catcher.

Photobucket

Gucci goes for big black and white floral prints with a splash of yellow or pink in it. You should wear plain black heels with those dresses to concentrate on the few color spots. That means, make sure that you don’t combine much more different colors with the black and white, otherwise you will look like a clown.

Photobucket

Balenciaga lets their models even walk on a flowered carpet! They present high gladiator sandals in bright colors or black and white. Their puffy sleeved short dresses made out of silk work the floral prints even better than the catwalk.

Photobucket

Blumarine created maxi and mini dresses and combined bright colores with floral prints. So if you want attention in summer, you should go for this collection! Heels in amtching colors must not be missing.

Photobucket

Dries Van Noten is totally into that floral print, too! They combine diffent colors and different prints, which actually looks amazing! Just put on some plain flip flops or gladiators and you are ready to go!

ETRO

Photobucket

I looked through some collections today and fell in love with Etro's Fall/Winter 2008/2009 collection. I especially like the overknee boots, which I normally would not dare to wear, because you get considered as "slutty" very fast. But now i have an excuse if anybody wants to bug me because of those boots. I can be like "Don't you have a sense for fashion?" :)
Furthermore, Etro goes for furry and feathery vests and coats in dark colors like black and brown or light and popping but still plain colors like light grey and white which are either worn unzipped or hold together with wide belts.
I also love the baggy oversized tees and maxidresses in natural colors and earty tones, there is a lot of brown, orange and purple in them.
Black is definately "in" next winter, thats why Etro shows a lot black tights and coats for cold winterdays. Pastel colors like light pink are also "allowed", but its important to not overdress the pink and match it with grey, white or black.
Etro uses a lot of different fabrics for this collection: the fashion is made of silk, velvet, chiffon and cord.
